The air temperature in winter is often dry and cool with low humidity. This temperature is perfect when working with wood, particularly in the garden.
The wood often holds 50% moisture content which will naturally evaporate for a few months after the project has been completed.
With low humidity in the winter, the wood will dry evenly keeping it firmly in place for the future years!
If the sealing of the wood is done when it is too humid, it can lock in the moisture causing the wood to rot and split.
Having extra moisture in the air can make it harder for the wood to absorb moisture, making the Winter months a perfect time to stain your new wooden decking.
The ground is usually more solid in the Winter months due to frost. This means that it will suffer less damage from any material spillage or footfall than in the summer months.
Any grass that gets damaged in the build of the decking will have plenty of time to recover by the Spring.
At JPW we will also take the stress out of your project by removing any waste, leaving you to enjoy your garden as soon as the work is finished!
With your decking project being finished in the Winter, you’ll have from the start of Spring to enjoy it and relax.
You will have more time to start looking after the rest of your garden and enjoy planting and watching your garden grow.
Winter is a great month to consider a decking project as winter is usually a quieter month for landscapers.
This means there will probably be good availability to start on your project, making for a shorter waiting period to start your decking, meaning that the job gets done sooner.
Here at JPW Fencing & Decking we offer two different types of decking in Bristol, timber decking and composite decking.
They both have different benefits to suit your needs and we will be happy to discuss them with you to ensure that you are making the right decision for your desired outcome.
